Setups prior to all production runs follow detailed engineering charts. Our performance-formulated ropes are tested in our laboratory for yield, tenacity, abrasion resistance, UV stability, elongation and firmness of lay.

     Orion's quality practices have earned the Qualified Supplier List Manufacturer (QSLM) certification by the U.S. Government. These standards - requiring extensive sampling, inspection and testing procedures - assure the commercial buyer that Orion products consistently meet or surpass the weight and strength standards of the Cordage Institute.

    Orion Ropeworks operates a 148,000-ft.2 facility in Winslow, Maine. Our fully integrated operation includes:

    *Extrusion of standard and high performance olefin fibers

    *Treatment, twisting and plying of co-polymer, nylon, polyester, polypropylene, and composite yarns

    *A wide array of rope making capability:

       -Twisted rope constructions from 1/8" to 4" diameter

       -Plaited rope constructions from 1 1/2" to 3" diameter

       -Double braid constructions from 1/4" to 2" diameter

    *A fully equipped resin, fiber and rope testing laboratory

    *Injection molding of reel parts and packing containers
